Annual Commentaries
I'm starting up my Hogan Commentaries, which by annual I don't necessarily mean weekly or anything. It could be multiple times a week or twice a month, but I will simply do a piece whenever something noteworthy to talk about comes up.

These are mostly my personal opinions on current events or even past happenings involving Hulk Hogan. So read on with that in mind and PLEASE, feel free to EMail me, the site operator, with any feelings or comments that you want to add regarding what I write here... I'd love to hear from anyone who reads...

3/10 - Hogan vs The Rock : WM 18 Dream Match
We are now under a week away from WrestleMania X8, which would be the new-aged way to say 18, lol. This dream Match between "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and The Rock has been the big talk every since it was made official about Three Weeks ago on RAW. This is the Match of epic proportions, between disputedly the two biggest names in the "History" of Proffessional Wrestling! Hulk Hogan, being the Great of the Past and the man who made the Business, versus the man who "is" the Business now, The Rock. Of course, I don't agree with The Rock being the Business now, as he's far from that, but in terms of popularity and fan drawing, The Rock is pretty much the big deal (although that could also be in question considering Steve Austin's recent "WHAT"-mania taking off so well). Triple H, imo, is "the business" and I personally cannot wait to see The Game vs The Hulkster, and I forsee that happening before Hogan hangs up the boots.

For once, The Rock's Match will have most of my attention. Triple H vs Jericho is truly the dream match for me, or at least it was when looking at a pre-Hogan WWF. Heh, pre is something odd to say when referring to Hogan, because he is considered the WWF's past. Anyway, this Match alone is expected to draw Big Time! And with good reason, but the stipulation being put on it.. to decide the Absolute "BEST EVER"?!?! Nu uh, I don't think so... and I'm not alone, just about any true fan of The Biz has to laugh at that monikor. Why do that is what I want to know? Hulk Hogan is 47 years old, it's not even like he's in his prime as The Rock is. The Rock is 32 and this "IS" his hay day. However, The Rock's hayday doesn't even come close to measuring up to Hulk Hogan's prominance. Can you really weigh 3 years of being on top to 20 years? Can you really compare the Most Popular SuperStar of today against the Most Popular SuperStar "EVER"! Hogan's title of the most famous Wrestler ever isn't in jeopardy at all, but measuring up The Rock in Hogan's footsteps is just about all that can be done for The Great One.

When signing with the WWF, Hogan stated that he was actually looking forward to putting over some of the WWF's current bignames, of course such as The Rock, Steve Austin, and Triple H... This "Dream Match", being as Hogan is nearing an end in his Career and The Rock is still the future, although I feel he's more the present as he sure as hell isn't just starting out in the spotlight.. This Match next week, though, smells horridly like Andre vs Hogan at WM 3. The passing of the torch seems almost iminant, and with Hogan's new-found attitude where he's just happy to be part of a team again, it's more than obvious that The Rock is expected to win... and then the torch is passed on right? Well that's good, but passing the torch is one thing, and calling the winner the "Greatest Ever" is completely another! The Rock is nowhere near Hulk Hogan's level Careerwise... maybe if he learns a few more technical in-ring skills and puts Wrestling on top of the Entertainment Industry for 10 more years... he will be able to legitamately consider himself a contender to Hogan.

I guess the stipulation makes me mad is all, and nobody even takes that seriously... and to know that The Rock will be thinking he has reason to call himself the Best Ever after Hogan jobs to him next week... that almost makes me sick, but then again it makes me laugh, as well... While The Rock has had his fair share of popularity, no doubt he has, it has not only been around 3 years of it against Hogan's near 20, but The Rock was simply the man to pick up where Steve Austin left off in revolutionizing Pro Wrestling. Hogan built the Business alone as it pertains to the actual product.. He completely changed Wrestling forever and so much more than that... while "Attitude" was the next step in changing The Business... something that The Rock only had a part in doing... and certainly not a majority of it. In terms of actual "meaning" for the Business, The Rock's is below Steve Austin's and neither's is anywhere near Hulk Hogan's.

If we look at Ratings, which might not say a lot, we will see that the Hogan-Era was moreorless one of consistancy. A 10 year "BOOM!" for the Industry, but more importantly, the biggest change from the start of it all. From filling lighted college gyms to putting 94, 000 people in The Pontiac SilverDome, Hogan's effect took to the WWF quickly in the 80's and took them into the Mid-90's before he left with never-before-thought possible Ratings, even for a non-prime time Saturday Wrestling Show... based mainly for family viewing. But for this to go on for a near 10 year period as it did goes even further to display Hogan's greatness and his drawing ability.

But this isn't me just trying to tell everybody that Hulk Hogan is the greatest ever and nobdoy is close... isn't that a given already? Lol. But the marks will eat it up when The Rock "officially" becomes the Greatest Wrestler to ever grace a squared circle... and that's nothing less than bullsh*t! Even measured by popularity level, The Rock doesn't even compare to Hogan... Celebrity, Movie Star, more than a household name, The Rock is just now becoming those things, things that Hogan was to a high extent. But now that Hogan has been out of the spotlight "completely" for 2 full years and hasn't been in the WWF for 9 years, he comes back in a "HEEL" fashion with the nWo... and what do we hear? The stupidest of marks, folks, chanting "Hogan, Hogan, Hogan!" And even the return of "Rocky Sux!"?!?! Wow, that is a big step for the fans, to know exactly what Hulk Hogan is all about.. and to respect it even above their beloved hero, The Rock. I guess Steve Austin doesn't like the fan reaction for Hogan considering that he's heel and he's causing fans to actually cheer for him "OVER" The Rock. I see his point, but you can't blind the fans, even the retarded marks, you can't make them forget, you can't take away respect from the one man who deserves it most... just let it flow boys, just let it flow!... Besides, wasn't the nWo the most "over" and popular Heel Stable in history down south in that Promotion that kicked Vince's ass for 3 years or so? Yeah, I thought so. Anyway, I'm out for today, but I'll see you all later when I return after WrestleMania is passed and I'll likely give a run-down on my thoughts of Hulk Hogan's WrestleMania return to the ring after Nine Years away from it. Peace out and remember, as Hulk himself said and it can be applied ANYWHERE in life, "The Greater the Gladiator is, the more Enemies he has!" Hulkamania Rules, Brother!
Easy E - The Hulkamaniac!
